Learning How to Edit Photos in Adobe Photoshop
With the birth of high-end cameras and innovative picture editing software, no amateur cannot produce a good-quality image these days. So, if you are looking to try your skills in photography, better familiarise yourself with the basics of Adobe Photoshop.
Cropping an image
- Choose the Crop button from the toolbar; this should turn the cursor from an arrow into a box.
- Place it at the top left corner of the area you want to select and drag down. On the corners and midpoint are small squares which are resizing handles. Click on these to increase or decrease the shape.
- Double-click within the section to have your desired result.
Making a picture lighter or darker
- From the menu, select Image, Adjust, and Variations. This will bring up smaller versions of your photo showing how it looks originally and how it will look after the colours have been adjusted.
Manipulating
- Select the Magic Wand button.
- Make sure that the options palettes are open. If not, choose Window and Show Options.
- Click the Wand on a typical colour in the background and hold the shift key to select additional pieces of similar hues.
- Go to Select and Feather; set at least 3 pixels. This will even out your selection.
Adding text
- On the bottom of the layer palette, click on the icon to add a new layer. Notice that there will be two displayed namely, the background or original image and a blank.
- Select the Text tool then click on the image where a dialogue box will appear.
- Change the font, size, and style of the characters.
Filters
- Click on Filter where you can select from various effects.
- A preview box will show how the picture will turn out after it has been changed.
- You can modify the intensity for better and more customised results.
All the steps indicated above need to be Saved. Do this by going to the File button and clicking on save. If you do not like the result, go to Edit and select Undo or use the history palette.
